The work is part of the Siebold Collection. Collected by Philipp Franz von Siebold in Japan, between 1823 and 1830. The ethnographical objects in the collection became part of the collection of the National Museum of Ethnology, Leiden when Siebold sold his collection to the Dutch Government.
