Why this is a
Masterpiece

This poem was written as an elegy, and it was a convention to copy the contents after the burial of the dead and burn it. Yet, it seems that it was preserved since it was considered to have special meaning as it is written personally by Yi Wonik. There is no separate title, but it is found in his anthology, 『Orijib』 with the title, Mourning for Deceased Wife. It is evaluated as a source where one can read the earnest heart of Wonik Lee for his wife.

History of the Object
This is consolatory poem written by Yi Wonik in 1604 while mourning for his wife, who was from the Jeong family of Youngil and died before him. It is designated as tangible cultural asset number 231 of Gyeonggi-do province.
