This is the most important work by Tsultem.

History of the Object
Tsultem studied in Russia. This painting uses the classical way to paint with horizontal lines and a classical perspective. In the painting you can see the first Russian truck in the distance. This is contrasted with tradition, expressed by the camel.

In 1955, the Union of Mongolian Artist bought this artwork and kept it in Zanabazar's Fine Art Museum until 1991. After that, the Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery was established and some artworks were brought from Zanabazar fine Art Museum to the new Gallery, including this work.

    I love the muted colors and the camel rising above the skyline, the gers. It really captures Mongolia for me without being trite or targeting tourists.
