Why this is a
Masterpiece

For this set of five separate solid neck rings, floral motifs have been applied by means of chasing, a technique of detailing the front surface of a metal article with various hammer-struck punches. The most common themes in Chinese jewellery are dragons, the phoenix, animals and plants.

History of the Object
Fearing the inflationary tendencies of local currencies, the highland farmers of China put their faith in silver, a precious metal that features prominently in much of the local jewellery. For them, the family's wealth can be ascertained by the numerous silver ornaments that are worn especially by women of marriageable age.
