Why this is a
Masterpiece

Yu, Dokjang is one of three famous artists in the genre of bamboo painting of the Chosun dynasty (1392~1910). He was not a professional artist, but a scholar. This is one of the masterpieces of bamboo paintings in the Chosun dynasty. Although part of the painting is cut off, it is quite larger than other bamboo paintings of the Chosun dynasty. Bamboo was one of the favorite painting subjects in the Chosun dynasty because it symbolizes a gentleman’s personality such as fidelity and principles.
