This cabinet (one of a pair) is a fine example of Japanese furniture for the European market. It is decorated in gold, in relief, with landscapes of mountains. In the front, there are pagodas, a river and trees. The crane is the central subject of the side panels, in gold and silver powder. Metal work with plant motifs is predominated by the imperial chrysanthemum of Japan. The interior is formed with ten drawers of different sizes. Supported on a stand, carved and gilded in baroque style, it is probably Portuguese from the 19th century.
