Why this is a
Masterpiece

A female Balinese dancer in full ceremonial gear strikes a typical dance pose. Well observed and faithful renditions of the dancer’s pose, facial expression, floral headdress costume and accessories against a bright plain background. Nothing is ambiguous which is the painter’s hallmark of excellence that distinguishes his work.

History of the Object
Lee Man Fong painted realistically throughout his entire art career. He was not interested in abstract art or the more modern art movements. He stayed constant with accuracy and sensitivity in drawing and painting.
