Why this is a
Masterpiece

The stake battlefield was very important in the victory over the invader's troops. They were erected after a precise calculation of the topography and a the tide-system. Commander-in-Chief Tran Quoc Tuan set up a naval battlefield to challenge the enemy and troops and to lure them into shallow waters where the tide was ebbing. The stakes prevented them from withdrawing This is an original way of fighting, demonstrating the creativity in the military tactics and strategy of the Viet in Tran Dynasty.

History of the Object
These stakes were discovered in 1976 in the Bach Dang river (Quang Ninh Province)). They are the vestiges of a battlefield in 1288. The stakes were planted into the riverbed of the Bach Dang River by which the invading troops were withdrawing on 400 war boats. The battle was commanded by Tran Quoc Tuan.
