Why this is a
Masterpiece

It is a unique object for the museum.

History of the Object
The bone was found in 1936. It is a one of the 16 parts of the Sauropod’s tail. Sauropods have long necks and tails. The recovery of dinosaur bones is time consuming and meticulous work. Each bone is removed from its stone tomb, first with a hammer and a chisel and then with much finer tools. Each bone is impregnated with glue and the position is marked on a chart. The larger and the more fragile pieces are painstakingly packaged in jute cloth soared in plaster. The material is then transported to the laboratory where it is unwrapped and reassembled. The study of the geographical layers and sediments and the plants, molluscs and vertebrate fossils that are preserved within them allows the reconstruction of the environment as it was in the region 100 million years ago.
