Why this is a
Masterpiece

This garment is unique because of its elaborate details, the intensity of its colors and its fine pattern.

History of the Object
This robe, or khalat, was a common type of men’s upper garment worn everywhere in Central Asia. An upper garment from each region had its own characteristics, which manifested themselves in proportions (that is length and width) and in fabric. This khalat is adorned with tambour embroidery and has a pattern with creeping bine islimi and round crimson rosettes.
