Why this is a
Masterpiece

It is very beautiful and well made. It is an important artifact that tells us about transportation in the past.

History of the Object
Ga-Ma is a sedan chair. We know Ga-Ma's origin through a Persian's pictures and from the Old Testament. A queen and a member of the senate house have ridden Ga-Ma in Rome. A new bride would be transported in this GA-Ma during the Chosun Dynasty period. The Ga-Ma has a roof and long poles. Four people would carry the Ga-Ma on their shoulders by holding the poles. In Korea, the Ga-Ma used varied depending on the rank of the individual being transported. Ga-Ma was used widely in the Choson Dynasty period.
