Why this is a
Masterpiece

This is a piece of furniture that is open on all sides and composed of columns and bottom boards. This stand, made of pine tree, has four columns firmly interlocking blocks. Its simple structure and its neat proportions exceed any contemporary furniture. Even though it is a bit higher than other traditional wooden furniture, it was able to fit well into low and small Korean traditional houses .

History of the Object
This type of stand used in Korean traditional houses in 19th century Joseon period had shelves for arranging books or for displaying small ornaments.
