Why this is a
Masterpiece

With a serious study of human beauty in mind, the painter decided to portray snobbish young city women. This painting was regarded as typical of the last stage of his artistic career in the romantic tendency.

History of the Object
The 1930-1945 period witnessed great changes in art. There appeared a struggle between two opposite trends: realistic vs romantic. In the romantic trend, painter To Ngoc Van emerged as a bright star in the Vietnamese history of fine arts.
