Why this is a
Masterpiece

Six figures appear in the scene. The three Chinese officials from Ministry of Diplomacy are standing solemnly in the frontal section with red robes, gauze hats and black boots, while the three foreign envoys are standing in the rear section. One of them has deep lying eyes, a high nose, a bold head and heavy eyebrows, his hands clasped in front of his chest. The second envoy is wearing a bird-feathered pointed hat, a white short robe with a red collar, wide pants and yellow boots. His hands are hidden in his sleeves. The third envoy is wearing a fur hat, yellow robe, grey blue cape, leather pants and pointed boots.

History of the Object
The second son of Emperor Gao Zong and Empress Wu Zetian, Zhanghuai became Crown Prince in 675 AD but was removed by his mother. Four years later, he was ordered to commit suicide at age 31. He was reinstated posthumously in 711 and buried along with his wife in this tomb. Hundreds of objects have been unearthed from the tomb. The wall, 400 square meters long, was covered by fifty murals in an excellent state of preservation.
